Artist's Description

Dictaphone was developed by Alexander Graham Bell at Volta Laboratory in 1881. Once they had perfected the art of recording speech to a wax cylinder so that it could be played back for someone to type, they formed the Volta Graphophone Company and begin to market them to professionals who could just speak what they wanted to be typed and then allow their secretaries to handle the dictation. Volta Graphophone later merged with American Graphophone Company which later became Columbia Records.
These machines were a staple item in the offices of Physicians and Attorneys who regularly dictated letters and reports. The Dictaphone pictured here is on display at the 1940 Air Terminal Museum in Houston, Texas.

About David Morefield

David Morefield

By David Morefield I started photography for a couple of reason, the main reason was for the pure enjoyment of creating something beautiful. In my past, I have seen some of the greatest horrors known to man, so finding other images to place into my head has been therapeutic. I call it "Image Replacement Therapy." Over time, I had some people ask about buying prints, so I started posting prints for sale and this is how Fluffyshotme Photography was born. I prefer to go out and capture whatever strikes me in the moment and if others like it, then great. My photography is more for me to appreciate, but if others can get enjoyment out of my work, then that brings me a sense of fulfillment. I am interested in travelling the world....
