Artist's Description
I am not much of a bird watcher, but the Superb Starling is such a beautiful bird that I just had to capture it. In my past two trips to Kenya, I have seen this bird, but never got a really good shot of it. Of course, I have always enjoyed watching them do to their beautiful coat of feathers. The sheen on the back of their wings makes them look like they are made out of sapphires and emeralds.
We stopped in the Masai Mara to have a picnic breakfast in a grassy field under a lone acacia tree. This Superb Starling decided to join us and provide us with some music as well as a great subject to shoot during the breakfast.
If there was ever a bird that I would want to photograph again, I would say the Superb Starling would be one of my top picks.
