Artist's Description

This teahouse was built in Japan and then reassembled in Houston, Texas by Japanese craftsmen. A gift from Prime Minister Kaifu, the Teahouse serves as focal point of the Japanese Garden in Hermann Park. The teahouse is constructed of Japanese Cedar or Hinoki along with Japanese Red Cedar otherwise known as Kitayama-sugi from Kyoto, Japan. The wood is carefully cultivated so that knots do not form. The teahouse is constructed without nails and is a great example of classic Japanese construction.

About David Morefield

David Morefield

By David Morefield I started photography for a couple of reason, the main reason was for the pure enjoyment of creating something beautiful. In my past, I have seen some of the greatest horrors known to man, so finding other images to place into my head has been therapeutic. I call it "Image Replacement Therapy." Over time, I had some people ask about buying prints, so I started posting prints for sale and this is how Fluffyshotme Photography was born. I prefer to go out and capture whatever strikes me in the moment and if others like it, then great. My photography is more for me to appreciate, but if others can get enjoyment out of my work, then that brings me a sense of fulfillment. I am interested in travelling the world....
